The West Coast Cultural Strategy is an action plan that aims to establish a vision and road map for the future of West Coast arts and culture.

The first of its kind for the West Coast, the strategy is intended to provide the general public, artists, audiences, venue owners, festivals, tourism associations, businesses and West Coast Council with a shared vision for sustainable arts and culture in the region.

The West Coast Cultural Strategy aims to:

  • Review arts and culture on the West Coast and how it serves the community.
  • Invite artists, groups, businesses, audiences and community members to share ideas, needs and opportunities.
  • Develop a shared vision for arts and culture on the West Coast, including strategic goals and action items.

There are a range of ways to engage with the development of the strategy; workshops in May 2023 and other in-person meetings as well as through online and physical surveys. Find out how you can contribute to the West Coast Cultural Strategy.

The West Coast Cultural Strategy will be created by independent research consultancy, Patternmakers, with facilitation by West Coast Council, The Unconformity and WD Booth Charitable Trust.

The Unconformity acknowledges the palawa people as the original and traditional custodians of lutruwita/Tasmania. We commit to working respectfully to honour their ongoing cultural and spiritual connections to this land.
